University of Minnesota Meat Science Hosts the Minnesota State FFA Meats Evaluation Contest

On Monday, April 24th, 2017, the Andrew Boss Laboratory of Meat Science, on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota, hosted the FFA State Meats Evaluation CDE. Students from throughout Minnesota participated in the contest which included beef yield and quality grading, retail cut identification and five placing classes of carcasses, wholesale and retail cuts from beef and pork. Dr. Ryan Cox, who served as contest faculty chair would like to thank everyone involved for their tremendous contributions and support, including Jordan Juckel, University of Minnesota Meat Science (Official Committee), and Tristan McNamara and Dallas Dornink (Product Chairs). The group looks forward to successful contests such as this for many years to come.
