The 8th annual Food Animal Networking Evening was held on October 23, 2019 at the Delta by Marriott Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. Food Animal Networking Evening (FANE) is a career fair hosted by the Gopher Dairy Club each fall and is open to members of Pre-Vet Club, Agriculture Education Club, and Block and Bridle. The goal of FANE is to provide an opportunity for students to network with businesses on a more personal level than a typical career fair and give industry professionals the chance to meet with the future of the agriculture industry. Internships and potential jobs are promoted heavily at the event by business representatives and connections are made to benefit both students and companies. Students from majors across the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resource Sciences are represented at this exciting event. This year 60 students and 17 companies were in attendance.

FANE is broken down into two portions: the career fair and the banquet. Students have two hours to network with businesses before attending a sit down meal and short dinner program. During the banquet, FANE Chair Rachel Coyne gave remarks and emceed the evening and FANE Assistant Chair, Nicholas Achen, provided an invocation before dinner. Each year, two senior members of the Gopher Dairy Club give a presentation. This year, the presentation was titled, “Student to Star Candidate.” Seniors Ashley Warren and Kaleb Kruse provided attendees with tips and tricks for applying and obtaining jobs or internships from both the viewpoints of candidates and employers.
