Summer 2010 Internship
World Wide Sires, Ltd.
Visalia, California
Description: World Wide Sires, Ltd., the export representative for Select Sires and Accelerated Genetics to all areas of the world except the Americas, is seeking a motivated college student for its internship program. The internship will provide valuable experience in public relations and advertising for a student with a dairy background. World Wide Sires (WWS) offers a 3-month internship to a qualified candidate. Currently, an internship is available for Summer 2010. At WWS, an intern has the opportunity to become familiar with World Wide Sires' policies and procedures of the U.S. A.I. industry and personnel, as well as U.S. dairy and beef genetic programs.
Responsibilities: 1) Assist the Public Relations department with travel itinerary arrangement and accompany international customers needing escorts in California. 2) Assist with special events such as the WWS International Shortcourse study program. 3) Update all U.S. farm files. 4) Complete new farm research and expand U.S. farm database. 5) Assist the Advertising department with promotional material assembly including gathering sire proof information, pedigrees, writing copy and proofreading. 6) Writing articles featuring cow families, specific sires, farms, etc. 7) Preparing presentation material using Microsoft Power Point. 8) Build your knowledge of these computer programs: QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Groupwise Email.
Qualifications: Junior or senior student majoring in dairy science or agriculture journalism is preferred. Basic knowledge and background in the dairy industry, good writing and communication skills and computer literacy are essential.
