Research
Interests
Functional
Genomics/Molecular Genetics - Research in my lab focuses on the functional
characterization and manipulation of the pig genome. Projects underway
in the lab include:
- Transposon-based
manipulation of the pig genome to develop medical products, large-animal
models of human genetic disease, and animals with enhanced agricultural
production traits.
- Microarray-based
profiling of gene-expression in pig tissues to identify candidate
genes for superior medical and agricultural performance.
- Development
of the Minnesota Animal Genome Ontology database (MANGOdb), a species
independent Comparative and Functional Genomics database for the
storage and analysis of phenotypic, genetic, and gene-expression
data (http://gnomix.ansci.umn.edu/).
