Ridgewater College, Willmar

The two-year dairy program at the Willmar Campus includes all phases of dairy management with an emphasis in farm operation and management, agri-business management, or ag transfer. Participants take courses in:

  • corrective mating and artificial insemination
  • raising replacement heifers
  • DHIA/computerized herd records
  • dairy health by an on-staff veterinarian
  • dairy nutrition/computerized ration balancer program
  • milking and milking equipment
  • dairy housing and animal comfort
  • dairy profit profile/analysis
  • personnel management
  • farm business management
  • agri-business management
  • crop management electives
  • machinery management electives
  • many other electives

Students do a four-week internship each October and May. The internships give students a chance to apply skills learned in college and to learn new skills that can best be learned on the job.
