Block & Bridle
Block & Bridle Club members are undergraduate students who are interested in farm animals. The University of Minnesota Block & Bridle club is affiliated with the national organization.
The objectives of the Block and Bridle Club are:
- To promote a higher scholastic standard and a more complete understanding of the field of Animal Sciences among student members, and
- To promote Animal Sciences through the development of a program of activities, especially all phases of student Animal Science work in colleges and Universities, and
- To bring about a closer relationship among all students pursing some phase of the Animal Sciences as a profession.
Members of the club may belong to various specie groups - currently beef, sheep, swine, equine, llama and goats.
The B & B Club participates in popular campus activities, such as the Minn Royal, Prospect week (i.e., Beef preview show), and Spring pig sale. The club organizes a barbecue for the state FFA Judging Convention and plans a variety of social activities. The club typically holds two meetings each month at which club business activities are conducted. Speakers are invited to the club meetings to present topics relating to animal agriculture, animal welfare, and current animal research being conducted at the University of Minnesota. International students and visiting professors are occasional speakers. The Block and Bridle Club is a great place to meet students with similar interests. |
