Ag Awareness

Awareness was organized by the graduate students of the Departments of Animal Science and Applied Plant Sciences to provide a learning experience that encompassed many aspects of agriculture.

The goal of Ag Awareness was to provide an interactive, hands-on learning environment for urban and/or suburban elementary students with little or no exposure to agriculture.

Booths were set up to teach youth about the sheep, dairy, beef, swine and poultry industries, In addition, two agronomy booths offered the opportunity to learn about what plants need to grow and to identify common crop plants. See Booth Synopsis for a description of each booth.

The last Ag Awareness event was held in May 2007 on the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus.

Ag Awareness would not have been possible without the many sponsors who supported the event and the volunteers who assisted with the activities each day.

Please contact Bob Leuer, President of the Animal Science Graduate Club, to inquire about the possibility of future Ag Awareness events.
