Department of Animal Science faculty are nationally recognized for quality classroom instruction and attention to student needs and concerns. Our leading-edge research is especially well-known in three priority areas: nutrition, physiology and growth biology, and production systems. We focus on five animal species, complementing national, regional, and state efforts in beef, dairy, equine, poultry, and swine.
The Department maintains excellence in the basic areas of undergraduate animal science education, and participates proactively in work with industry clientele and communities to resolve livestock issues across Minnesota. We build connections with our stakeholders—students, industry clientele, legislators, and the community—through teaching and learning.
